Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

A hearty casserole featuring tender hamburger steaks drenched in rich gravy, perfect for comforting weeknight meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet of gravy mix
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form the meat mixture into rectangular patties about ½ inch thick.
  4. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown each side of the patties for about 3-4 minutes.
  5. In the same skillet, add beef broth and gravy mix. Stir until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Layer the browned patties in a greased casserole dish and pour the gravy over the top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30-35 minutes until cooked through.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days, and they reheat well in the oven or microwave.
