Chinese Beef and Broccoli

A comforting dish made with tender beef and crisp broccoli, enveloped in a savory sauce, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced beef, soy sauce, cornstarch, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare broccoli by breaking it into florets and steaming or blanching for 2-3 minutes until bright green.
  3. Heat cooking oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinated beef to the hot pan and sear for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add broccoli to the same pan and sauté for 2 minutes. Return beef to the pan and add oyster sauce, tossing to combine.
  6. Let the mixture cook for another minute to thicken the sauce and coat the beef and broccoli.
  7. Serve immediately over steamed rice.

Notes

Feel free to swap beef for chicken, shrimp or tofu. Adjust spice levels to preference.
