Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks

A comforting and flavorful twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, made with tender ground beef, sautéed peppers, and melted cheese, all served in a soft hoagie roll.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender and slightly caramelized.
  2. Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Cook for 6-8 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until browned.
  3. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper, stirring to combine everything.
  4. Lower the heat to low and lay the provolone slices over the mixture. Cover with a lid and let it melt for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Split the hoagie rolls and lightly toast if desired. Spoon the cheesesteak mixture onto the rolls and serve immediately.
  6. Add any desired toppings, such as sliced jalapeños or extra cheese.
