Healthy Baked Churro Bites

Delightfully light baked churro bites coated in cinnamon sugar, offering a guilt-free alternative to traditional churros.

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the applesauce, vanilla extract, and melted coconut oil until smooth.
  4. Gradually incorporate the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently.
  5. Scoop teaspoons of the dough and roll them into small balls on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Roll warm churro bites in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

Notes

These churro bites can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven to regain their crunch.
