Sausage, Cheese, and Butter Swim Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite)
  • 1 cup cooked sausage (crumbled)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the cooked sausage and shredded cheese to the flour mixture and stir gently.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk and mix until just combined.
  6. In a baking dish, melt the butter in the oven until bubbling.
  7. Spoon biscuit dough over the melted butter, creating dollops.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until tops are golden brown.

Notes

Great to serve with tomato soup, salad, or scrambled eggs. Can be made ahead and stored.
