Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 1 cup bell peppers (mixed colors)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, and half of the black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Slice flank steak against the grain into thin strips and add to the marinade. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes, ideally up to an hour in the fridge.
  3. Chop the bell peppers and onion into thin strips.
  4. In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef strips and sear for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. Add chopped onion and bell peppers to the skillet, sauté for another 4-5 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining black pepper over the stir-fry and toss everything to combine well.
  7. Serve the sizzling pepper steak hot over a bed of rice or with noodles.

Notes

For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of black pepper or use white pepper. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
