Spooky Black Velvet Halloween Cake

An irresistibly moist and rich black velvet cake perfect for Halloween celebrations, topped with cream cheese frosting.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gently fold wet ingredients into the dry mixture until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing it.
