Vegan Gelatin Substitute

A vegan alternative to traditional gelatin, perfect for thickening and stabilizing various dishes without animal products.

  • 2 cups fruit juice (your choice)
  • 12 tablespoons sweetener (optional)
  • Agar-Agar
  • Pectin
  • Carrageenan
  • Kudzu starch
  • Arrowroot powder

Instructions

  1. Gather ingredients: You will need agar-agar powder, fruit juice, and sweetener if desired.
  2. Combine juice and agar: In a saucepan, mix fruit juice and agar-agar powder, stirring well.
  3. Boil the mixture: Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat while stirring continuously (about 5 minutes).
  4. Sweeten to taste: Add sweetener and allow it to dissolve fully.
  5. Set the jelly: Pour into molds or a container, cool for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Remove the jelly from molds and serve chilled.

Notes

For a low-calorie version, use unsweetened juice or flavored water. Experiment with flavors and textures by adding fresh fruits or herbs.
