Vegan Gelatin

A plant-based alternative to traditional gelatin, perfect for creating jellies and desserts.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon agar-agar
  • Pectin (follow package instructions for amount)
  • Carrageenan (follow package instructions for amount)
  • 2 cups fruit juice or water

Instructions

  1. Choose your base: Decide if you’ll be using agar-agar, pectin, or carrageenan.
  2. Prepare the liquid: In a pot, combine 2 cups of your chosen liquid.
  3. Add the gelling agent: Sprinkle 1 tablespoon agar-agar into the liquid and follow instructions for pectin and carrageenan.
  4. Heat it up: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil while stirring continuously.
  5. Cool down: Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before pouring into molds.
  6. Set it: Place molds into the fridge and let set for at least 1-2 hours.
  7. Serve: Gently remove from molds and enjoy as a snack or dessert.

Notes

Vegan gelatin can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
